The
scope of this study was to realize a mobile, self-assembling bridge (or
ramp) which may be utilized for civil protection during natural
calamities, by contractors carrying out large civil works and for
military purposes. The novelty of this design consists ofthe fact that
it can be towed by a simple prime-mover and it does not require the aid
of a heavy transport means (tracked or tank) for its positioning. It is
equipped with its own engine and apparatuses for the movement of the
tracks and for its other services.
The whole mobile bridge is composed of 3 main parts (sections):
The base section which also acts as semi-trailer;
The second and third sections which are longitudinally divided into two
tracks (left and right), which are hinged to one another.
Only the first section forms a unique body, the second and the third
sections form two separate and parallel tracks. The bridge was designed
this way in order to have the possibility of unfolding one track at a
time. While the first track is unfolded the other track remains in its
folded position on the base, thus creating a ballast. The second track
is unfolded only when the first track has already been positioned. |
